Responsible for providing guidelines and support to the business line management to improve operational controls and develop operational risk profile which fits the risk appetite of the bank.
Critically examines and drives the agenda of regulatory, policy and procedural compliance issues, recommendations and initiatives throughout the Branch, through the design and implementation of a detective and preventative compliance monitoring program to facilitate the maintenance of internal controls for adequate and effective enterprise-wide risk management.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements, within the framework of NBK Group Operational Risk and Compliance Policies, an Operational Risk and Compliance Manual for the Branch
- Assists in the design, implementation, evaluation and reporting of Key Risk Indicators, Incidents/ Operational Losses and Risk Controls.
- Apprises local management and staff of Central Bank regulations and other applicable laws, regulations and regulatory directives.
- Monitors, verifies and reports compliance with local regulatory requirements and NBK Group requirements, by implementing the Operational Risk and Compliance framework. Follows up and verifies compliance.
- Develops Operational Risk and Compliance Program annually and submit to the Risk Management committee for approval.
- Maintains a database with all Central Bank regulations and instructions, Labor Law in force, Articles of Association, Board decisions, Code of conduct, data relating to business processes, risks, controls, mitigation measures and historical losses (internal/external) on a bank-wide basis.
- Develops and maintains the Anti Money Laundering (AML)/Combating Financing of Terrorism (CFT) policy in line with evolving statutory and regulator obligations. Monitors transactions to ensure compliance and reports on the same.
- Reviews, approves and conducts operational risk assessment and approve all existing/new banking products, activities, processes and systems to ensure adherence to statutory requirements.
Requirements
- Degree qualified.
- 8-12 years relevant experience in a banking environment.
- Strong knowledge of local laws and regulations governing the banking sector.
- Broad knowledge of banking products and services.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English; Arabic (preferred).
